First-times

I experienced several first-times last week. First-time joining a music contest in my entire adult life (and won a prize! yaaayy~~), first-time cooking a somewhat complicated dish that is one of my mom’s specialties (and turned out very well!), first-time dinner at Ginza’s famous restaurant avenue (fancy!), first-time going to Kappabashi-dori in Tawaramachi for Japanese tableware shopping (very interesting!), and first-time skiing (so much fun!). What an intense week!

Winning the contest was a huge satisfaction. It was the fruit of a great team work, and I had so much fun. Someone I deeply respect, and people I care about came to the contest to give their moral support. Nothing could be more comforting before the contest than being held in the hand, with a warm smile and a good luck wish.

The reason why I agreed to go on a ski trip was mostly because I wanted to see snow (LOTS of it) and to enjoy hotspring, not because of the ski per se. I really didn’t have good reference for that one particular outdoor activity. A friend went and she broke her ankle… another friend went and he said everything hurt the next day. So I wasn’t looking forward to skiing all that much. But anyway… I decided to give it a try, although I was thinking that I might just give up in less than an hour after falling off for about 20 times or more :P

Seriously to my surprise, I found myself skiing and actually enjoying it after less than an hour learning and only a few times of falling off. I was very lucky to have somebody who very patiently taught me step by step how to ski, and being very very supportive. My first-time ski and I was in good hands. Couldn’t ask for a better ski coach.

My best supporter at the music contest, my first-time adventures partner, and my ski coach… I am looking forward to experiencing so much more first-times and adventures with you!

Fell off and giggling! :P
