WHO award
I attended a seminar where two famous development economist gave presentations on their recent works. It was great and I learned alot. One thing that I quickly noticed from their papers is that… they use very few references. I pointed that fact to my friend L who was also attending the seminar. She smiled. I guess experts like them don’t need so much reference in their work. It is more like the other way around. Their works become reference for other people…. say… student like me. Hehehe…
One of the works was about assessing a public health program in my home country. I really enjoyed the presentation. You know how some people just have that charm to make a presentation very interesting? He is one!
I know only a little about public health programs in my own country, and my knowledge is mostly I got - unintentionally - from my own field research experience that has nothing to do with public health (most of you probably know that I am a tree hugger… not a public health program observer… hehehe…). I also know that although the programs are basically very good, they are often object of criticism. So I was very surprised when the presentator said that my country is actually famous for its WHO award winning for creative, effective, and cost effective public health programs! Waaa!!!
My mom is a volunteer in one of public health programs and she is very passionate about her work. I am sure she will be very happy to know about the WHO award. Congratulations!
